FBiH Government gave 20 million KM to University Hospital Mostar in 2024, but tax debt increased

(Patria) - The total debt of the largest tax debtors in the Federation of BiH at the end of June 2025 amounted to 2 billion and 766 million KM.

The list of debtors includes 5,285 companies, and the top twenty positions have been held by the same business entities for years.

The largest debtor is the Kreka mines with a debt of as much as 170 million KM, followed by the Railways of FBiH with about 154 million marks. The list also includes the mines of Zenica, Breza, Kakanj, as well as the University Hospital Mostar with 130,110,813 KM. During 2024, this hospital received 20 million KM from the FBiH Government under the Law on Financial Consolidation. At the end of 2024, the debt of SKB Mostar amounted to 122.37 million KM, as shown by the audit.

In just six months of 2025, the debt grew by eight million KM.

Also on the list of the largest debtors is the Public Service of BiH (BHRT) with 40,409,985 million KM. In the proposal for the Budget of BiH institutions for 2025, which will be discussed at the session of the BiH Presidency on August 19, members of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović and Željko Komšić proposed allocating 20 million KM from the Budget for BHRT. An earlier attempt to amend the Law on the Public RTV Service to enable budget financing was unsuccessful.

The management of BHRT has repeatedly warned both the Council of Ministers of BiH and the Parliament of BiH about the financial crisis they are in, especially due to the debt of 16 million KM to the EBU, and particularly after the increase of the minimum wage to 1,000 KM. BHRT had to increase salaries for 503 workers, while other salaries did not increase. The debt of RTRS to BHRT has never been settled either, despite court rulings. That debt is about 90 million KM.
