FBiH Government Declares August 16th a Day of Mourning

(Patria) - The FBiH Government, at today's telephone session, made a decision to declare Wednesday, August 16th, a Day of Mourning due to the tragedy in Gradačac.

Earlier, the Council of Ministers refused to declare a day of mourning at the state level, with the explanation that ministers from Republika Srpska, namely Nenad Nešić and Staša Košarac, did not vote.

However, the FBiH Government made this decision at the entity level; earlier, the Government of Republika Srpska also did so, and then invited the FBiH Government to do the same.

The killer, Nermin Sulejmanović, killed three people and wounded three on Friday, before committing suicide.

The murder of his common-law wife, Nizama Hećimović, whom he brutally executed, was broadcast live on Instagram.

The Day of Mourning is marked by the mandatory flying of the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina at half-mast, or on the flagpole, on the buildings of the FBiH Government and institutions of the FBiH.

On the Day of Mourning, cultural and entertainment programs cannot be held in public places in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Media houses in the territory of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina are obliged to harmonize and adapt their program content to the Day of Mourning.

The decision takes effect on the day it is made and will be published in the Official Gazette of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
