Religious program pays tribute to the heroes of Žepa

(Patria) - The traditional Šehidska dova program began today at the Ali Pasha Mosque in Sarajevo with the recitation of Surah Yasin in honour of heroes Avdo Palić, Amir Imamović and Mehmed-ef. Hajrić.

Namely, the Goražde Muftiship and the Medžlis of the Islamic Community (MIZ) Žepa are organising a series of events and activities as part of the traditional Šehidska dova on the occasion of marking the fall of the UN safe zone of Žepa.

"This is already a traditional recitation of Yasin-i Sharif for the souls of martyrs Mehmed-ef. Hajrić, Commander Avdo Palić and Amir Imamović. Every 25th of July we gather and remember them in this way. This is a dignified way of marking the anniversary and a dignified way of preserving the memory of our heroes. Today there are many people here from Žepa, but also from elsewhere, who have taken the time to be present, and I thank them for that," the chief imam of MIZ Žepa, Elvedin-ef. Selimović, told the MINA Agency.

After the religious program at the Ali Pasha Mosque, a visit was made to the Kovači Martyrs' Cemetery, where Surah Yasin was recited for the late President Alija Izetbegović, Sinan Ćeska and the Bosnian martyrs.
"Today we also remembered our first president, Zlatni Ljiljan recipient Sinan Ćeska, as well as all our martyrs. It is important, both for us and for the generations to come, to preserve their memory," added efendija Selimović.

The Šehidska dova will be recited on 27 July. The program begins at the plateau of the Memorial Complex Žepa 1992-1995 at 11:00 AM.

We remind you that the Council of Muftis of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in its fatwa on the genocide of Bosniaks, adopted on 3 July 2015, declared the localities of Srebrenica and Žepa as Šehitluci of the genocide against Bosniak Muslims.
