Believers mark the 27th night of Ramadan with prayer and dhikr

SARAJEVO, (Patria) -  Muslims around the world are marking Laylat al-Qadr tonight, and will spend the night in dhikr and prayer. It is believed that this is the best night of all others in the year, the Patria agency writes. The central ceremony was held at the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque. The streets of Baščaršija are full of strollers and believers marking the 27th night of Ramadan. 

Islamic theologians actually explain that Laylat al-Qadr is better than a thousand months, which roughly corresponds to 83 years, so believers are advised to spend it in prayer until the early morning hours.

For believers, Laylat al-Qadr is the most significant night of the year because the revelation of the Qur'an began on this night. It is not precisely indicated when it occurs, but based on the Qur'an and Hadith, it is assumed to be the 27th night of the month of Ramadan, or it may be on some other odd nights in the last third of Ramadan.

On the occasion of Laylat al-Qadr, the Majlis of the Islamic Community of Sarajevo will hold a special program tonight at the Istiklal Mosque in Otoka after the Tarawih prayer.

The program will include a special lecture, recitation of the Qur'an, ilahis and qasidas, and the Qadr prayer. The lecturers are hfz.dr. Kenan Musić and hfz. Amar Bašić.
