In mosques throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the diaspora, a collection - voluntary aid gathering - was organized today after Friday prayer for residents of flood-affected areas across the country, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).
Numerous worshippers who performed Friday prayer today in Sarajevo's Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque donated a significant amount of money, thus showing that even though they are tens of kilometers away from the flood-affected areas, they are still with their compatriots in their hearts.
In the sermon of the Head of the Islamic Community, Husein ef. Kavazović, read in all mosques in the country, it was stated that "we can respond to this disaster only if we rise together as one and stay united".
"Let us do this as brothers and sisters, as neighbors and as friends. Let us preserve the solidarity already shown. We are especially pleased with the readiness of young people to come to the aid of those in need. We must continue to provide assistance," it was read, among other things, in the sermon, reports Patria.
