Worshippers from Cerska near Vlasenica get a new mosque

Worshippers from Cerska near Vlasenica received a new mosque today, after the old mosque was destroyed in the floods and landslides that hit Bosnia and Herzegovina last year, reports the news agency Patria.

The image of only the mosque's minaret sticking out of the mud went around all world media, which reported the news of the catastrophic floods and landslides in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Reisu-l-ulema of the Islamic Community in BiH Husein ef. Kavazović officially declared the mosque a waqf of the Islamic Community of BiH and all Muslims, and he ceded the honor of officially opening the mosque to Begi ef. Selimović and his grandson Abdul-Kerim.
Ef. Bego donated part of his land on which the new mosque was built.

Muamer ef. Jusupović, imam in Cerska, said that looking at the destroyed mosque, one can conclude what a trial is, but also what the right response to a trial is when it befalls believers.

During his address to the worshippers, the reisu-l-ulema said that they must defend three values: family, faith, and country.
He thanked the worshippers for supporting the Islamic Community and for building mosques, mektebs, madrasas... It is a unique example in the world, said ef. Kavazović, that people freely and voluntarily support their free and independent Islamic Community.

The construction of the new mosque, imam's house, ablution facility, and shadrvan, as well as works on the mekteb in the Gobelje settlement, began in March of this year. The facilities were built in less than four months.

The construction was financed by the Islamic Community with the help of as many as 750 legal and natural persons, reports NAP.
