High level of air pollution today as well, Warning episode measures in effect

(Patria) - Air in Sarajevo Canton is heavily polluted today as well. It is recommended to reduce time spent outdoors, especially for people with respiratory problems, as well as the elderly, pregnant women and children, and people with chronic diseases.

Although a trend of slight decrease in PM10 particle concentrations is recorded compared to yesterday, the values of this pollutant are still high and are within the limits of the Warning episode, which remains in effect. We remind that the subjects of the implementation of the Intervention Measures Plan in Sarajevo Canton are obliged to act in accordance with the prescribed obligations during this episode, all with the aim of reducing harmful emissions and protecting the health of the population.

According to data from the Expert Body of KS, the impaired air quality will persist in the coming days, with expected fluctuations in PM 10.

High concentrations of polluting particles will significantly decrease during the day and increase in the evening and morning hours.

The current synoptic situation indicates stable weather with no wind or very light wind from the south and southeast at 1-3 m/s, with the occurrence of temperature inversion in the morning and evening hours. Already from tomorrow, due to the change in wind direction, mostly from the south, as well as higher temperatures, there will be a faster weakening of the inversion and better ventilation of the Sarajevo basin. A significant change in weather is predicted for Friday, when there will be a change in wind direction and strengthening of the wind with precipitation in the form of sleet and snow.
