Over half a million tourists visited Bosnia and Herzegovina in the first four months of this year

(Patria) - In the period January – April 2026, tourists in Bosnia and Herzegovina made 466,460 visits, which is 2.7 percent more compared to the same period in 2025. Domestic tourists made eight percent more visits compared to the same period in 2025, while foreign tourists made 0.1 percent more visits compared to the same period last year.

In the period January – April 2026, tourists in BiH made 1,021,602 overnight stays, which is 3.9 percent more compared to the same period in 2025.

Domestic tourists in that period made 7.8 percent more visits compared to the same period in 2025, while the number of overnight stays by foreign tourists is 2.2 percent higher compared to the same period last year. In the total number of overnight stays, the share of domestic tourists was 31.9 percent, while the share of foreign tourists was 68.1 percent.

In the structure of foreign tourist overnight stays, the most overnight stays for the four months of this year were made by tourists from: Croatia (26.4 percent), Serbia (16.6 percent), Slovenia (7.8 percent), Turkey (7.0 percent), Germany (3.9 percent) and Montenegro (3.7 percent), which together makes up 65.4 percent of the total foreign tourist overnight stays. Tourists from other countries made 34.6 percent of overnight stays, according to data from the Agency for Statistics of BiH.

By type of accommodation facility, the largest number of overnight stays was achieved within the Hotels and similar accommodation activity with a share of 95.1 percent.
