Over five thousand citizens of Lukavac show support for Mayor Edin Delić

LUKAVAC, (Patria) - Around five thousand citizens of Lukavac held a rally on Friday evening in support of the Mayor of Lukavac Municipality, Edin Delić. 

Recall, the Lukavac Municipal Council adopted at its session on January 22 an Initiative for the recall of Mayor Delić, which resulted in a rally of support for the current mayor. 

The rally was held at the Cultural Centre in Lukavac, and a large number of citizens remained outside, as not everyone could fit inside. 

SDP Mayor Edin Delić, in his address to the citizens, called on the President of the SDA Lukavac Municipal Board, Tarik Arapčić, to directly oppose him in the mayoral elections. 

- Mr. Tarik Arapčić says that anyone can be the mayor of Lukavac Municipality, except Edin Delić. Therefore, his personal animosity towards me is evident, so even the black devil can be mayor, just not Edin Delić. Now I ask, can Tarik Arapčić be the mayor of Lukavac Municipality?

Come on, let's all challenge him to announce his candidacy and let him oppose me. Come out of the shadows, comrade Arapčić, come out of the session, come out of the darkness and stop controlling our destinies with SMS messages to Jusufović, Struja, and your other minions. Come into the light of day, you who take it upon yourself to say who can be mayor and who cannot be mayor, who is elected by the people. Come out and offer yourself as a candidate so we can see what you are worth - said Delić. 

Delić thanked everyone who came to support him, saying that it was one of the most beautiful days of his life. 

- I am shocked in a positive sense. Thank you to the citizens of Lukavac Municipality. This is one of the most beautiful days of my life, this is proof that everything we have done makes sense, proof that it is worth fighting for the people, proof that something can change, and proof that Lukavac has woken up. I have lived in this city since 1968. I grew up on these streets and never have the people so strongly and powerfully said what they do not want and what they want. We want to end 20 years of tyranny, we want honesty, law, and order to prevail in this city. Enough of the spin to charge the people dearly, enough of selling state property for cheap money, hiring along party lines, humiliating people in local communities - said the Mayor of Lukavac. 

The citizens present also signed a petition calling for the removal of the current composition of the Lukavac Municipal Council. 

At the session of the Lukavac Municipal Council on January 22, 18 out of 31 councilors voted for the Initiative to recall Mayor Edin Delić.
