Over a million gathered in Paris led by Hollande paid tribute to the victims

Around 3 PM, the March of Solidarity began, led by French President Hollande and 40 European leaders, with over a million people marching through the streets of Paris. Immediately behind the leaders are the family members of the victims, BBC reports.

Hundreds of thousands of people gathered in Paris at the Place de la République to participate in the march against global extremism, which will be led by French President Francois Hollande, and will be joined by numerous world leaders and politicians, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

Hollande stated in his televised address to the nation that Paris is the capital of the world today.

In this way, tribute will be paid to the 17 citizens who died during the terrorist attack on the editorial office of the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, where 10 journalists were killed, and during the hostage crises.

SECURITY MEASURES

Security measures have been raised to the highest level, and at least a million people are expected. Around 2,000 police officers and other service members are securing the gathering, and snipers can be seen on some buildings.

Otherwise, in recent days, protests have been organized across France, as well as around the world, due to the murder of journalists and citizens in Paris. Today, flags across France are also at half-mast.  

Today, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, British Prime Minister David Cameron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and many other leaders will walk through Paris.
