The Chief Federal Epidemiologist Jelena Ravlija stated in an interview for the BiH news agency Patria that low flu activity is currently being recorded in the Federation, with a total of 7,654 cases of flu-like illnesses and 18,505 cases of acute respiratory infections registered.
Due to the extremely warm weather for this time of year, many citizens are concerned about the possibility of spreading viral diseases.
Dr. Ravlija warns that, in order to maintain this low flu activity, in addition to vaccination, citizens should enhance personal and collective hygiene.
- Wash hands with soap and water – as often as possible, especially after sneezing and coughing. When sneezing and coughing, be sure to cover your mouth and nose with a tissue, a paper one, which should be thrown into the trash bin immediately after use. In the absence of a tissue, it is better to sneeze and cough into your sleeve, the inside of your elbow, rather than into your hands. Avoid stuffy, overheated, crowded rooms, and people who are sneezing and coughing. Citizens should also pay attention to the general resistance of the body: increase rest, reduce stress, improve nutrition and physical activity – warned Dr. Ravlija.
Citizens who develop a temperature over 38 degrees, have a sore throat, malaise, pain in muscles and joints, says Dr. Ravlija, should contact a doctor.
