Over 180 students in eco-action: 'Green Path of Knowledge' combined learning and community responsibility

(Patria) - On the occasion of April 22, Earth Day, the Elementary School "Srednje" Ilijaš implemented the project "Eco Action: Green Path of Knowledge", through which students, teachers and partners from the local community worked together on protecting and arranging the area.



More than 180 students from the central and branch schools took part in the field action. Divided into several groups, they cleaned and arranged road routes on the sections Čevljanovići – Gajevi and Gajevi – Dragoradi, spanning about 18 kilometers. The approaches to schools were tidied up, making the students' daily commute safer and more accessible.

The action also carried a strong symbolic message. Students carried banners such as "Nature loves us, return its love", reminding that the attitude towards the environment begins with personal responsibility.



The participation of the youngest was particularly significant, as through such activities they early adopt habits of caring for the space in which they grow up.

The central part of the activities was carried out at the branch school in Dragoradi, where a reforestation action was organized with the support of partners.



The event was also attended by the Minister of Education of Sarajevo Canton, Naida Hota-Muminović.

- Education does not end in the classroom. When students plant trees and arrange the space where they live, they learn the most important lessons - responsibility, care, and attitude towards the community - said Hota-Muminović, emphasizing that environmental awareness is built through experience and personal example.



School principal Dženita Čehajić-Kulo stressed that the project connects teaching and life, and that through concrete activities, students develop lasting values.

Support for the implementation was provided by the Ilijaš Municipality and Mayor Amar Dovadžija, as well as relevant services and public companies, which ensured logistics and safety of the activities.



The project "Green Path of Knowledge" is implemented through the Catalog of Registered Programs, through which the relevant ministry, in cooperation with the Institute for the Development of Pre-University Education, supports the connection of learning and action in the community.
