More than 120 NGOs demand protection for Imam Selvedin Beganović

The NGO Council of BiH, which brings together 33 organizations, and the Peacebuilding Network, which brings together 93 organizations, have expressed deep concern and condemned the endangerment of the safety of Imam Selvedin ef. Beganović from Velika Kladuša and his family, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

After showing exceptional civic courage and speaking out publicly about the recruitment of young men and women from Bosnia and Herzegovina to go to foreign battlefields, ef. Beganović has been subjected to continuous physical attacks.

In the last three months, ef. Beganović has suffered four attacks.

- Not only should one attack have been enough to provide adequate protection for this man, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Such attacks continue, and we can still only read media reports that ef. Beganović has once again survived by sheer luck – state this NGO sector, adding that it is particularly concerning that ef. Beganović is no longer the only target, but also his family.

Why are Beganović and his family not provided protection, and why are the perpetrators of these misdeeds still at large, asks the NGO sector, reports NAP.
