VIRUS SPREADS UNEXPECTEDLY EASILY China imposes largest quarantine in the world

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Chinese authorities on Wednesday declared the largest quarantine in history to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, for which there is currently neither a cure nor a vaccine.

Authorities have imposed travel restrictions to and from three major cities: Huanggang, Ezhou, and Wuhan, which have a total population of about 20 million people.

According to AFP, the Forbidden City in Beijing has been closed to reduce the risk of infection. 

The rules took effect on Thursday morning, initially suspending train and air traffic to and from the million-strong city of Wuhan, the largest city in central China, considered the epicenter of the infection. Authorities also halted public transport within the city – buses, subways, and ferries. Additionally, it was ordered that everyone on the streets must wear protective masks.

Authorities began implementing the measures as early as Wednesday at 10 a.m. local time. By Wednesday afternoon, car traffic was still allowed, but afterwards, movement on highways towards Wuhan began to be stopped. On Wednesday, they also announced that they are checking the temperature of everyone entering and leaving the city.
