Vilić: My entire family lives off mushroom cultivation

Bahrudin Vilić from Sarajevo, in the Mošćanica settlement at the foot of his family home, built a facility for mushroom production. He started cultivating mushrooms back in 1988, and today he and his family live exclusively off mushroom sales. He spoke about his production for the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).

- I started a long time ago. I produce 6 to 7 tons per month. That's about 80 tons annually. I sell to restaurants, hotels, and also at the market. I am satisfied – says Bahrudin to NAP.

As he says, this production would not be possible without the help of his family, which is why he emphasizes that it is exclusively a family business. Although constant investment is required, Vilić says that every job requires sacrifice, but the results will not be absent.

- Whoever wants to work, it's not a problem for them. The only thing this job requires is an early start. We are already on our feet at 4 AM, picking mushrooms, packing them, and by 8 AM everything is already delivered to customers – says Bahrudin to NAP.

Given that mushroom production requires special conditions in the premises, such as light, a certain temperature, humidity, and soil, he received incentive funds from the Municipality of Stari Grad as a successful businessman.
