Vilić and Pena: Omeragić was not in the Directorate's records, photos were taken from CIPS

Željko Komšić, leader of the Democratic Front, told reporters in Sarajevo today, commenting on the security situation in BiH, that the killer of two soldiers, Enes Omeragić, was known to members of the Directorate for the Coordination of Police Bodies of BiH, and that officers had his photo so that, in case he approached protected VIP persons, he could be removed, writes the Patria News Agency.

Further commenting on the security situation and the system in BiH, Komšić spoke very sharply.

- We are clutching our heads and asking why this is happening to us. This is happening to us because there is no order here. We have the case of the murder of two soldiers, and do you know what has been happening in the background? Which agencies were obliged to do what and did not do it. Who was supposed to provide security for whom and who was supposed to inform whom. And then we ask ourselves how this happened to us. It happened to us because the most normal thing for us is to say, what law - I am force, I am power - says Komšić.

He further stated that BiH has so many police forces and police bodies, and that they even have a Directorate established to coordinate them.

- Go to the director of that agency and ask him if anyone asks him anything when it comes to the coordination of these police activities. There are examples of professionalism and police solidarity among officers, but when we talk about the system, it does not exist. Do you know that this man, who killed two people, has a photo in the Directorate for the Coordination of Police Bodies. The photo is there with the explanation that officers securing VIP persons are obliged to inform their agency if they notice him near these persons. So, one agency already has data about him. Uroš Pena said that they have him in their records, so what kind of security system are we talking about - added Komšić.

We contacted the director of the Directorate for the Coordination of Police Bodies, Mirsad Vilić, and asked him to verify the information stated by Komšić. Vilić told us that "unfortunately, the Directorate did not have Omeragić in its records earlier, but upon learning of the attack and who the perpetrator was, they printed photos to inform officers about the person in question, as they were obliged to increase the guard of protected facilities".

- The Directorate acted in accordance with the law, and we had to print photos from the CIPS records, but which were ultimately not even distributed, because the perpetrator of the criminal offense committed suicide - said Vilić.

Uroš Pena, deputy director of the Directorate for the Coordination of Police Bodies, stated that the Directorate does not have its own database, but rather one that is sent by all other domestic and international police agencies.

- It is clear that there has been a misunderstanding. I was forced to inform my officers about the attack, and then we printed those photos, because how can we protect protected persons and facilities if we don't know what the perpetrator of the criminal offense looks like - said Pena, also confirming that the photos were not distributed because Omeragić had committed suicide in the meantime.
