Viktor Orban cancels visit to BiH, had to decline Tegeltija's invitation

(Patria) - Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has cancelled his visit to Sarajevo on 25 January due to epidemiological reasons, confirmed for Patria by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Orban thus will not come to the capital of BiH after all and could not accept the invitation of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers Zoran Tegeltija.

The Hungarian Prime Minister recently paid a friendly visit to Banja Luka, where he met with Milorad Dodik.

We recall that Orban, responding to a journalist's question about his "close ties" with Dodik, said that Hungary's southern border is only 70-80 kilometres from BiH and that with the outbreak of war in the former Yugoslavia, tens of thousands came to Hungary.

"If conflict breaks out there, it will come to Hungary the very next morning," he said, adding that the Serbian nation is key in the Balkans.

"The Balkans cannot be stabilised without the Serbs nor without BiH, and BiH cannot be stabilised without the BiH Serbs. The Serbian nation is key for the Balkans," Orban emphasised, according to the official statement from the press conference.
