VIK: Water from our system is safe for consumption, local water supplies are not part of VIK

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Public Utility "Vodovod i kanalizacija" (VIK) Sarajevo's Service for Sanitary Supervision and Water Quality Control informs citizens that water in the entire public water supply system under the jurisdiction of this company is safe for consumption, including water from Jahorina springs.

According to "ViK", information was published today in the media that water in certain local water supplies is not safe for consumption, after which they received a large number of calls from citizens inquiring about the water's safety.

"We ask the representatives of the competent municipal services, the Public Health Institute of KS, and media outlets to clearly indicate the difference between local water supplies and the city water supply when publishing information about unsafe water from local sources. Local water supplies are completely separate systems from the city water supply managed by 'Vodovod i kanalizacija' Sarajevo. However, most citizens are not familiar with the terminology regarding water supply systems, so any publication stating that water in a local water supply is unsafe causes confusion among a large number of citizens who use water from the city water supply system," explained KJKP "Vodovod i kanalizacija".
