ViK Sarajevo: Additional water quantities to reduce night-time reductions

The management of KJKP “Vodovod i kanalizacija“ d.o.o. Sarajevo is determined to improve the water supply of Sarajevo Canton in the shortest possible time, with the maximum commitment of all employees, and to reduce night-time pressure drops in the water supply network to a minimum, it was announced from this company, reports the Patria agency.

- We are not giving up on our intention to overcome the problem of water reduction. We want to change the situation in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina on this issue after twenty years - said Nezir Hadžić, director of KJKP „Vodovod i kanalizacija“ d.o.o. Sarajevo.

In order to achieve new quantities of water, which will affect the improvement of water supply, module II at the Filtration Plant „Vogošća“ has been made operational, in order to currently treat an additional 40 l/s of drinking water from the Peračko vrelo spring, on days when rainfall causes turbidity of the spring.

The pipeline with a profile of DN 500 mm, which distributes water from the Tilava water source to the „Hrasno“ Reservoir, which was in operation before the war, has also been made operational. After demining, the pipeline was put into operation, where additional quantities of water will be "pumped" into the water supply system, which will significantly improve the situation in the „Hrasno“ and „Skenderija“ reservoirs and thus successively to the end consumer. These are significant quantities of water that JKP Vodovod Istočno Sarajevo can deliver to Sarajevo Canton. It is important to emphasize that this water source was owned by KJKP „ViK“ Sarajevo before the aggression against BiH.

Additional quantities of water in the coming period will affect the reduction of the time interval of night-time pressure drops, i.e., the normalization of water supply to the wider area of the city of Sarajevo.
