ViK on water disconnection in Gorica settlement: Most debtors haven't paid bills since 2004.

(Patria) - In the Sarajevo settlement of Gorica, Dajanli Ibrahim-bega street, users have accumulated a debt of 272,023.79 KM for water consumption and wastewater discharge charges as of today, announced the Public Utility Company Water Supply and Sewerage (ViK).

"The users have been in the company's records since 2004, and most of them have not settled their obligations since then. The company attempted to disconnect users twice, but it was not allowed. In this regard, a letter was also sent to the Centar Police Department.

Reminders have been regularly sent to users, but without effect. In the last three years alone, we have sent reminders five times regarding the debt, in addition to pre-litigation notices sent twice a year.

We must also note that two meetings were held with Dervo Sejdić, a representative of the residents, to try to find solutions for paying the debt in question, but no agreements were reached.

The company offered the possibility of paying the debt by signing an agreement on debt settlement under favorable conditions, which includes the payment of the principal debt and court costs, and the company waives late interest by an annex to the contract.

However, even such an agreement was not reached. After everything, it was proposed to pay 10% of the debt immediately and the rest in installments, but this was also not accepted.

The company has repeatedly sent letters to the Ministry of Labour, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees of Sarajevo Canton to help this population, where we received responses that the Ministry does not have planned budget funds for this purpose.

We also sent information that water is not used rationally in that location and that there are also malfunctions that users are obliged to repair.

We have also been informed by the Ministry that, if social services determine that they are social categories of the population, they are entitled to 50.00 KM per month for utility services.

According to the disconnection plan for July 22, 2024, users - debtors were notified by reminders on July 10, 2024," stated ViK.
