Councilman Mehmed Muharemović Initiates Effort to Resolve Ismail Zulfić's Housing Issue in Sarajevo

(Patria) - Bosnia and Herzegovina's top female swimmer and athlete Lana Pudar was granted the use of an apartment in the Sarajevo municipality of Centar in January last year, and soon the housing issue for young para-swimmer Ismail Zulfić, known as "the butterfly without wings," could be similarly resolved.

The Municipal Council unanimously supported the initiative to grant Lana the use of an apartment, and a three-year lease agreement, which can be extended, was signed. Now, an initiative has also been launched for Ismail Zulfić.

Namely, Sarajevo politician and councilman Mehmed Muharemović initiated this at the 5th regular session of the Centar Municipal Council, and it has been forwarded to the Mayor of Centar Municipality and the Housing Commission.

- Resolving the housing issue would solve many problems and potentially improve results, which will be even better in the future. I hope the mayor will consider my proposal and that, with the help of the Housing Commission, Ismail will be granted the use of an adequate apartment – councilman Muharemović wrote in his Facebook post.

Ismail Zulfić is a multiple Bosnian and Herzegovinian champion in para-swimming and a winner of numerous medals at international competitions. His sporting achievements include gold medals at competitions in Split, Zadar, Rijeka, Zagreb, Belgrade, Podgorica, France, and Egypt. Particularly noteworthy are his gold medal in the junior category at the World Para Swimming Series in Lignano, Italy, as well as silver medals in the senior category in Cairo, Egypt.

Zulfić currently travels from Zenica to Sarajevo for training four times a week, which represents a significant burden for his family, both financially and organizationally. His father is employed at ArcelorMittal Zenica, while his mother is unemployed, and the family has two other children.
