At today's session, the City Council of Sarajevo adopted decisions on awarding the April 6 Award for 2015, reports the Patria news agency.
Councilors voted to award this year's individual April 6 Award to Bosnian artist Safet Zec, the collective award to the Association of Parents of Killed Children of Besieged Sarajevo 1992-1995, and the group April 6 Award for environmental protection to Jim Marshall and Timothy Tim Clacy.
Plagues of the City of Sarajevo were awarded posthumously to Mustafa Hajrulahović Talijan and the Sarajevo Taxi Association.
-Talijan is a symbol and embodiment of a patriot, fighter, and defender of Sarajevo in sneakers. He was the first among the first to jump through the streets of Sarajevo, gathering individuals, and he formed and led the regional headquarters of the Territorial Defense of Sarajevo in April 1992, and later the First Corps of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which defended Sarajevo, the decision's explanation states.
Many councilors emphasized that artist Zec deserves the individual April 6 Award, but also that fighter Mustafa Hajrulahović Talijan deserves an award, not the plaque for which he was posthumously nominated. Therefore, the decision on awarding the April 6 Award could change, allowing more individuals to receive it in the future.
The awards and plaques will be presented to the winners at the ceremonial session of the City Council on April 6.
