Our Party Councillor Proposed Toni Cetinski as 'Honorary Citizen of Sarajevo', Proposal Not Accepted

(Patria) - Mirela Džehverović from Our Party, Deputy Chairwoman of the Sarajevo City Council, proposed that Croatian singer Toni Cetinski be awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of Sarajevo.

Her proposal was not accepted, writes Politicki.ba.

At the session of the Commission that determined the proposals for awards on the occasion of April 6th, Sarajevo City Day, she emphasized that, firstly, "certain forces" were not in favour of Cetinski holding a concert in Sarajevo, and thus the idea failed.

She particularly emphasized that her proposal was not motivated by that, but "due to the contribution he made, in accordance with the criteria from the Decision on Recognitions and Awards".

Her idea was not accepted by SDP councillor Muamer Mekić.

In the end, with three votes in favour, one abstention, and one member of the Commission who did not declare during the vote, the proposal did not pass.

After his concert in Sarajevo, which was supposed to be held on February 10th in front of the Eternal Flame, organized by a private production company as part of the 40th anniversary of the Sarajevo Olympics, was cancelled, Cetinski directed criticism at the Mayor of Sarajevo, Benjamina Karić.

The concert did not happen, and the announcement itself caused negative reactions from a part of the public who believed that a local artist should perform the concert. However, the City Administration decided to mark the anniversary of the Olympics with a series of other appropriate events.
