UN Security Council calls for the formation of an army to fight Boko Haram

The United Nations Security Council has condemned the escalation of violence by the terrorist organization Boko Haram in Nigeria and called for multinational military efforts to combat this extremist group, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

The UN Council expressed deep concern over the fact that Boko Haram's activities are disrupting peace and stability in Central and West Africa. Boko Haram's goal is to create a caliphate, similar to what ISIS members are doing in Syria and Iraq.

- The Security Council approves of countries in that part of the world forming a joint military force to fight Boko Haram - it is stated.

Boko Haram seeks to impose Sharia law in Nigeria, the most populous African country with nearly 170 million people.
