The Parents' Council of primary and secondary schools of Sarajevo Canton has issued an invitation to citizens, which the Patria News Agency conveys in its entirety.
- Forty days after the death of 14-year-old Mahir Rakovac, a student of Primary School "Aleksa Šantić", a peaceful walk for Mahir will be held on Saturday, January 23rd, starting at 1 PM.
An invitation to all citizens for a peaceful walk, the procession will start from the Square of Sarajevo Children towards Marijin Dvor, to the Building of Common Institutions. The purpose of the walk is to commemorate Mahir and all other victims of peer violence.
Despite everything he went through, Mahir lived and left quietly and with dignity. We ask all participants, with all their pain due to injustice, to allow the walk dedicated to him to be dignified as well - without noise, shouts, whistles, banners, or any disruption of order and peace. Purple ribbons - a symbol of the fight against violence against children - will be distributed to all participants during the walk.
We hope you will join us in as large a number as possible and that, with a minute of silence, a Fatiha, a prayer, or any other peaceful and dignified manner, we will remember not only Mahir but also all innocent victims of injustice and turning a blind eye to evil, the statement reads.
