Council of Ministers claims: All economic indicators in BiH are growing

The Council of Ministers of BiH was informed today about the Information from the Directorate for Economic Planning on the movement of macroeconomic indicators for the period January – August 2015, which emphasizes the growth of all economic indicators in BiH, reports the Patria News Agency.     

The positive growth trend in industry has continued, with a 7.2 percent increase in the physical volume of industrial production in August compared to the same month in 2014. The most significant contribution to the overall industrial growth was achieved in the manufacturing industry, which is largely export-oriented and where production recorded a growth of 10.5 percent compared to August 2014. 

The foreign trade deficit in goods in August this year decreased in value by 9.1 percent compared to the period July-August 2014. The reduction in the deficit is the result of export growth of 6.5 percent on one hand and an annual decrease in imports of 1.1 percent on the other. A slight increase in VAT revenues according to tax returns, and a strong real retail trade growth of 8 percent on an annual level indicate an increase in final consumption.

The number of employed persons in BiH in July this year amounted to 714 thousand, which represents an increase of 1.6 percent compared to the same month last year.

The growth of deposits by 5.2 percent continued in August 2015, so that total deposits reached 16 billion KM.
