Council of Ministers today on the new draft law on the BiH Court and October floods

(Patria) - The 69th session of the Council of Ministers of BiH has been scheduled for today in Sarajevo, starting at 3:00 PM. There are a total of 40 items on the agenda.

Among the first is the new draft law on the Court of BiH, proposed by the Ministry of Justice of BiH.

The Minister of Justice of BiH, Davor Bunoza, claims that the Draft Law on the Court of BiH is aligned with international standards. However, he adds, the seat of the appellate court remains contentious.

- I believe we need to find a compromise there, because the seat of the appellate court is less important compared to other very important matters that we have regulated in the Draft Law on the Court of BiH - says Bunoza.

The goal, he adds, is to fully ensure the independence of the appellate court with the new law, where judges would be elected by the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH, and that the first and second instance courts have separate court presidents, which is not currently the case.

Bunoza also stated that they have clarified the jurisdiction of this court in accordance with international standards.

The Council of Ministers of BiH is also expected to consider the Information on floods and landslides in BiH (period 4.10. - 16.10. 2024), prepared by the Ministry of Security of BiH.

Furthermore, the state ministers will consider the Request for initiating a vote on the reconstruction of the Council of Ministers of BiH, proposed by the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament.

The proposed agenda also includes the new text of the Proposal of the Decision on the obligation to provide biometric data of foreigners, as well as the Proposal of the Decision on the minimum amount of funds required for the maintenance of a foreigner during their intended stay in BiH for 2025, proposed by the Ministry of Security of BiH.

Among other things, the ministers are expected to review the Information on BiH's participation in the EU4Health Programme for 2024, prepared by the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH.
