Council of Ministers of BiH to meet on Tuesday: Increased migrant influx and deteriorating security situation in reception centers

(Patria) - The session of the Council of Ministers of BiH will be held on June 18, and for three full months, there have been no legal solutions on the agenda.

The agenda includes the Proposal of the Decision on the Adoption of the Strategy for Combating Corruption 2024-2028 and the Action Plan for the Implementation of the Strategy for Combating Corruption 2024-2028, which was not considered at the previous session, and the previous strategy has expired.

At the proposal of the Ministry of Security of BiH, the Information on the increased influx of migrants and the deteriorating security situation in temporary reception centers should be considered. Although the number of migrants in BiH has increased, the admission of cadets to the BiH Border Police, which is responsible for protecting the state border, is proceeding slowly and with an insufficient number of police officers. A large number of them will retire this year and next, and new generations of cadets cannot replace that number. Therefore, it will be necessary for other police agencies assisting the BiH Border Police to engage additional forces in protecting BiH's borders.

The agenda also includes the Report on the Execution of the Budget of Institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and International Obligations of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the period I - III 2024. The Ministry of Finance and Treasury of BiH does not want to submit the Draft Budget of BiH Institutions for 2024 to the procedure because it has such an order from the authorities of the RS until the distribution of money from special excise taxes of the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH, amounting to approximately 262 million KM, and money from RAK and Elektroprenos is agreed upon.

The second decision on temporary financing expires at the end of this month, and there are no indications that the budget will be adopted.

Ministers will also consider the Report on the Work of the Coordination Body, the Expert Team, and the Legal Team regarding the issue of the disposal of radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel at the Čerkezovac site, Trgovska gora, Dvor municipality, Republic of Croatia.
