Council of Ministers of BiH considered amendments to the Election Law proposed by a group of MPs

(Patria) - The Council of Ministers of BiH at today's session determined and will submit to the BiH Parliament the Opinion of the Ministry of Justice on the Bill on Amendments to the Election Law of BiH, whose proposers are MPs Šemsudin Dedić, Edin Ramić, Safet Kešo, Denijal Tulumović, Amor Mašović, Nermin Mandra, Šerif Špago and Midhat Čaušević.

In its Opinion, the BiH Ministry of Justice recalls the importance of the Election Law, which is the fundamental framework for ensuring every citizen's right to participate in the electoral democratic process, and emphasizes the need for public consultations not only for transparency but also for identifying potential problems and challenges in the proposed amendments.

At the same time, the Opinion points out that implementing this bill requires securing additional funds in the budget of BiH institutions and international obligations, which the BiH Ministry of Finance and Treasury should comment on, especially considering that the amount and method of securing the necessary financial resources are not specified.

The Ministry of Justice believes that the Council of Ministers of BiH should be the proposer of the amendments to the Election Law, as it has the expertise for preparation and coordination with other institutions and bodies within the state administration, which is crucial for ensuring the alignment of the proposed amendments with the country's other legal and regulatory framework.
