Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina condemns peer violence, calls for prevention of hate speech in public space

The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, following the tragic suicide of student Mahir Rakovac, condemned peer violence and called on competent institutions in BiH to intensify activities to prevent violence in schools and protect children's rights, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

The Ministry of Civil Affairs and the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees are tasked, within their competencies, to react urgently and, in cooperation with competent authorities at all levels of government in BiH, take all measures to prevent any form of peer violence and to protect the best interests of the child, and to regularly report on the implemented activities to the Council of Ministers.

The Ministry of Civil Affairs and the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees are tasked, within their competencies and in cooperation with competent authorities at all levels of government in BiH, to take all measures to improve the work of educational institutions, with the aim of maximum application of generally accepted standards in the field of education, as well as measures to raise awareness of the entire society regarding the upbringing, education and protection of the child.

The Ministry of Communications and Transport and the Communications Regulatory Agency will, in cooperation with all other competent authorities, take all necessary measures to prevent any form of hate speech/language on internet networks, audiovisual and other media, and ensure strict compliance with the provisions of the Code on Audiovisual Media Services and Radio Media Services.
