Council of Ministers of BiH decides to relocate migrants from Lipa to Bira

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina held an emergency session regarding the migrant crisis in BiH.

“The session has just concluded and a decision was made to relocate the migrants to Bira,” confirmed for N1 the Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Selmo Cikotić.

Earlier, the Civil Protection Staff of the City of Bihać, at an emergency session held yesterday in front of “Bira,” unanimously adopted two conclusions, including one that the forced accommodation of migrants and refugees in “Bira” without the consent of the authorities in the Una-Sana Canton would disrupt the security situation in that part of BiH.

The Mayor of Bihać, Šuhret Fazlić, had a similar request, asking the Ministry of Security of BiH and the Council of Ministers of BiH to, “despite pressure from the European Union and the international community, not allow the return of migrants to the former camp ‘Bira'”.

The Bira camp was closed on September 30, 2020, and for 90 days now, citizens have been gathering in front of Bira to prevent the return of migrants.
