Council of Ministers of BiH to Discuss Payment of 110 Million KM to Slovenian Viaduct Today

(Patria) - The 53rd extraordinary session of the Council of Ministers of BiH has been scheduled for today in Sarajevo, starting at 4:00 PM.

The proposed agenda includes only one item - Information on the implementation of the conclusion of the Council of Ministers from the 51st session regarding the execution of the ICSID Tribunal arbitral award in the case of Viaduct d.o.o. Portorož and others vs. BiH.

The proposer is the Ministry of Finance and Treasury of BiH, which was tasked by the conclusion of March 27 to prepare, without delay and no later than 15 days, a draft decision for the execution of the payment of the claim, i.e., to settle the debt to the company Viaduct d.o.o. Portorož in the amount of 110,169,862.95 KM.

That was the amount of the debt as of March 1, 2025, with a daily interest of 9,000 euros. For 40 days of delay, that amounts to an additional 720,000 KM, bringing the total debt to 110,889,862.95 KM.

Failure to pay this debt has jeopardized the operation of air traffic in BiH, and the state must settle this debt.

Due to the new situation, the Minister of Finance and Treasury of BiH, Srđan Amidžić, announced amendments to the Draft Budget of BiH Institutions for 2025 and informed the Presidency of BiH about this, requesting that the submitted Draft not be adopted.

Incidentally, the Presidency of BiH is the authorized proposer of the Budget of BiH Institutions, which must be adopted by both houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.

Incidentally, the dispute arose between the Government of the RS and the Slovenian company Viaduct over concessions, but the state of BiH was sued and ultimately must pay this debt.

The Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Borjana Krišto, said after the Council of Ministers session on March 27 that the state will pay the debt but will collect every mark from the BiH entity of the RS.
