VIDEO Let's Protect Our Children from Internet Violence!

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Safer Internet Day is celebrated every February 11. Children's fundamental rights and safety in schools are 70 percent more endangered today due to the massive use of the Internet and because internet violence does not stop when a child goes home. Today, children are exposed to various forms of violence such as physical, verbal, social, and sexual violence. However, the internet is often the cause of these forms of violence, as children, by entering the online world, become potential victims of violence if they are not informed, educated, and trained in self-protection mechanisms.

"Internet abuse is a specific form of violence, as the victim of violence can always be available to their abuser. Children, as a vulnerable category, are quite susceptible and easier to manipulate. The biggest problem is the fact that the abuse is carried out by peers from the class, school, or acquaintances. The problem of child and youth abuse on the internet is not discussed enough, it is not recognized as a form of violence, given that according to Global Analitika's research, as many as 74 percent of students believe that internet abuse is not violence, but some form of joke. Internet abuse directly violates the fundamental rights of the child as stipulated by the Convention on the Rights of the Child (Article 19), which states that a child has the right to protection from maltreatment and abuse.

Safer Internet Day (SID) is an international event held annually in February, aiming to promote safer and more responsible use of internet technologies, as well as mobile phones by children and young people worldwide. This year's celebration of Safer Internet Day is being held today, February 11, 2020, as a continuation of last year's theme titled 'Together for a Better Internet,' emphasizing the importance of the role of all of us in creating a better internet," announced Global Analitika, a center for social research.

On the occasion of Safer Internet Day, Global Analitika presents an illustrative video demonstrating what cyberbullying is, how it can affect the victim of violence, but also how to prevent or stop you or someone around you from becoming a victim of internet violence.

With this video, we want to enable everyone who wants to be informed, but also to inform others about the dangers lurking in cyberspace. Watch, share, and inform, because cyberbullying is not cool and the victim is not alone!
