VIDEO Duraković: It is necessary for Mostar to remain united for the future of the entire country

Prof. Dr. Esad Duraković, one of the greatest Bosniak intellectuals and a distinguished professor of Arabic literature at the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo, explained during his appearance on TV1's Dnevnik, among other things, his claim that the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina is not over but frozen, reports the Patria news agency.

- The current situation in Mostar, and elsewhere, confirms this in an exceptional way. First of all, we do not have a Constitution, but a Peace Agreement that froze the situation as it was. And now we are witnessing, also in this story about Mostar, that peaceful political means are being used to achieve goals not accomplished in the war. The main goal was total fragmentation, i.e., division into three entities. This was partially achieved by creating the RS, but not by secession or the creation of Herzeg-Bosnia, and now this is being attempted. So politics is in a position to achieve what pro-Bosnian forces preserved during the time of severe aggression – Duraković pointed out.

The public is literally on edge when it comes to Mostar; the SDA and HDZ have presented their proposed solutions, one leading to division, the other to domination.

- I cannot understand, well for the HDZ I can, but that the SDA is pursuing such a brazen policy, I do not understand. The aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina was carried out with the aim of fragmentation along national lines. People laid down thousands of lives in resistance to that fragmentation. Now, in peacetime, 20 years after Dayton, we are moving towards that fragmentation, and a blatant example of this is Mostar. Mostar is a kind of paradigm or test for what will follow later. It was not long ago when Mr. Čović in Travnik, at an HDZ session, reached for Travnik. This means that with such solutions, the SDA and HDZ are betraying the basic principles and goals for which the war was fought, and that is resistance to fragmentation – says Duraković.
