Major Conference in Sarajevo: Beekeeping Could Create Thousands of New Jobs in BiH

The Association of Beekeepers' Unions of Sarajevo Canton is organizing the First Beekeeping Symposium on December 16 and 17 at Hotel Hills in Ilidža, where beekeepers and experts from various fields will draw conclusions about the state of beekeeping in BiH, and take positions on how to work on improving beekeeping in the country, announced the Association of Beekeepers' Unions of Sarajevo Canton.

The Association notes that beekeeping and honey production can be a chance for thousands of new jobs in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The potentials of BiH in this area are, beekeepers claim, enormous, but insufficiently utilized.

Bee products from BiH are among the highest quality in the world.

Beekeepers in BiH lack legal regulations, quality incentives, and systematic state supervision of beekeeping and honey production, as neighboring countries have. Beekeepers will discuss these issues further at a press conference, which will be held on Thursday at Hotel Hills in Ilidža at 12:00 PM.

At the two-day Sarajevo symposium on beekeeping issues, experts from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Agriculture, and Faculty of Forestry in Sarajevo, as well as experts from the Dr. Vaso Butozan Institute in Banja Luka, will speak.

On the second day of the symposium, beekeepers will be addressed by experts in bee protection and honey production from Croatia and Slovenia, announced the Association of Beekeepers' Unions of Sarajevo Canton, Patria reports.
