Veliki Park: Indictment Filed Against Dragana Vikić and Jusuf Pušina

The prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has filed an indictment against: Dragana Vikić, born in 1955, Jusuf Pušina, born in 1949, Nermin Uzunović known as Šok, born in 1957, and Mladen Čovčić known as Rogatica, born in 1970, the Prosecutor's Office of BiH announced, Patria reports.

The accused are charged with, as commanders and members of the Ministry of Interior, police forces and reserve police in Sarajevo, in April 1992, acting contrary to the provisions of the Geneva Conventions on the protection of prisoners of war, and that they knew and were informed about the capture of 8 members of the JNA of Serbian nationality from a disabled transporter, in the area of the Sarajevo neighborhood of Dobrinja, and placing them under the control and supervision of police and security structures, who were then taken to the location of Veliki Park, near the Police House in the center of Sarajevo, where, contrary to the Geneva Conventions and provisions of international humanitarian law that define the treatment of prisoners of war, they were killed by gunfire from firearms, in which the accused Uzunović and Čovčić and other persons participated.

After the murder, their bodies were removed and taken away with the aim of removing and concealing evidence. Partial remains of two of the killed have been found, while the others are still being searched for.

The accused are charged with, as members of police and security structures, who were at their positions or near the crime scene, being informed about the crime or personally witnessing the commission of the crime, after which they failed to arrest, prosecute and sanction the perpetrators and prevent the removal of evidence and concealment of bodies.

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH conducted a long, detailed and thorough investigation in this case, in which dozens of witnesses were heard and a large amount of evidence was collected, and the allegations of the indictment will be proven by the Prosecutor's Office by summoning more than 80 witnesses and submitting about 400 pieces of evidence.

The indictment has been forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
