Large number of faithful celebrated Easter in Mostar's Cathedral Church

(Patria) - Easter liturgy in the Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity in Mostar, which has not yet been renovated, was led by the head of the church Duško Kojić, with the assistance of deacon Miloš Janjić and the presence of a large number of faithful. Bells from the Cathedral Church rang at midnight, announcing the happiest Christian holiday.

Midnight Easter liturgies in the Mostar area were also held at the Žitomislić Monastery, as well as at the Church of Saint Basil of Ostrog in Blagaj near Mostar, while matins were held at the Church of the Ascension of the Lord in Bijelo Polje.

The message of His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia was read at all Easter services, and Easter eggs were distributed to the faithful.

Priest Kojić stated that Easter calls us not only to joy, but also to deep introspection.

"Because the greatest tragedy of this world is not suffering, but betrayal. It is not hardest when a person falls, but when they turn their back on the one who entrusted them with love. That is why it is important to ask ourselves: are we distancing ourselves from each other, are we silent when we should be with our neighbor, and do we easily give up on people. Lest we, imperceptibly, become those who turn away, who forget, and who betray," Kojić conveyed.

He emphasized that Easter calls for the opposite – to stay, to be with people, and not to give up on each other, "because in a world where people separate more and more easily, the greatest courage is to remain faithful – to people, to truth, and to good".

"And therefore, despite everything that burdens us, Easter brings us the deepest certainty: that life is stronger than any darkness, that joy has the last word, and that, no matter how many times it has been crucified throughout history, good always resurrects in the end," Kojić pointed out.
