On this day, January 25, 1987, Asim Ferhatović Hase, one of the best Bosnian-Herzegovinian footballers, died, writes the Patria agency.
He started playing football in the local club Vratnik from Sarajevo. He then played for Sarajevo, first in the youth categories and then in the senior team with which he won the Yugoslav championship in the 1966/67 season. In the 1963/64 season, he was the top scorer of the Yugoslav Championship with 19 goals. In 1963 he briefly moved to the Turkish football club Fenerbahçe but returned to his native Sarajevo after only a month and a half spent in Istanbul.
Older generations remember him not only as a good athlete but also as a good person. The largest stadium in BiH, the one at Sarajevo's Koševo, today bears Hase's name, writes Patria.
