Vehabović before the Investigative Committee: Some members of the HJPC are running to politics

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Judge of the European Court Faris Vehabović was heard at today's session of the Provisional Investigative Committee of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament.

Vehabović stated that the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina has individuals whose goals are not in line with those who should be concerned with ensuring the judicial system is independent and impartial.

"Because we see the opposite, some people are running to politics, and for what reasons I do not know, nor do I wish to delve into it," Vehabović explained.

He also mentioned cases pending before the European Court of Human Rights, which he says can be categorized as "the way the judicial system functions in Bosnia and Herzegovina."

"The vast majority of cases being processed are cases concerning the non-enforcement of final court judgments. This is not solely the fault of the judicial system, but the entire state apparatus is involved, which has not done enough to respect court judgments and to prosecute those who obstruct the enforcement of court judgments," said Vehabović.

As an example, he cited the case of the church on Fate Orlović's land, where the deadline for implementing the judgment was April 1st, which has passed, and after that, the Prosecutor's Office was expected to take steps in accordance with the law, given that the non-enforcement of the European Court's judgment is a criminal offense.

"The Prosecutor's Office's reaction was absent," Vehabović pointed out.
