Tonight's concert marks the beginning of the Ramadan in Sarajevo event 'Visit Sarajevo-Feel the spirit of Ramadan'

(Patria) - Tonight's concert on the plateau in front of the Baščaršija Mosque in Sarajevo marks the beginning of this year's Ramadan in Sarajevo event 'Visit Sarajevo-Feel the spirit of Ramadan', organized by the Majlis of the Islamic Community Sarajevo, in cooperation with the Tourist Board of Sarajevo Canton.

Mustafa Isaković, Šaha Jelačić, and the Choir of the Majlis Sarajevo will perform at this spiritual music concert, and the program will conclude with the firing of the first cannon from Tabija and the beginning of Ramadan.

Within the mentioned event, numerous activities will be held, aiming to offer citizens of Sarajevo and BiH, as well as numerous tourists and guests, a large number of top-quality and valuable religious and cultural programs.

All of this is intended to enhance and enrich the cultural life, as well as the tourist offer of Sarajevo and BiH, and the overall development of the cultural life of the local community and society.

"Blessed Ramadan is the month in which the revelation of the Quran began. It is the month of the Quran, but also a month that believers spend fasting and in additional acts of worship.

Ramadan is also a month of our revival, spiritual purity, a month of mutual solidarity, in fact, a month in which we return to true values, to our families, friends, people close to us, and in this way find true happiness and well-being," said the chief imam of MIZ Sarajevo, Dr. Abdulgafar Velić, on this occasion.

He assessed that Ramadans in Sarajevo are special, and perhaps unique in the Muslim world.

"For centuries, Sarajevo has welcomed this great month in a special way, opening its doors and showing all its goodness and universality. Although it is always beautiful and open, it seems that Sarajevo becomes even more beautiful and open during Ramadan," said the chief imam of Sarajevo.

These are precisely the reasons, as he explained, why the Majlis of Sarajevo continuously works year after year to preserve this important dimension of the city, doing everything it can to make every Ramadan even more special.

"We want everyone in Sarajevo this year, regardless of religious or any other affiliation, to feel the specialness and spirit of Ramadan in Sarajevo, just as our slogan says. This year again, we have the Tourist Board of Sarajevo Canton, the local community, and our other friends with us.

We thank them for their continuous support, which I believe can serve as an example of excellent practice for others in the context of preserving our values and traditions," said Dr. Velić.

The president of the Tourist Board of Sarajevo Canton, Haris Fazlagić, said that they are pleased to support this project because it represents the 'soul of the city' in an exceptionally high-quality and content-rich way during Ramadan, a special month during which numerous tourists visit Sarajevo.

"We were promoting tourism in the European market, specifically at the Muslim Travel Show in London, where the exceptionally great interest in Sarajevo was confirmed, especially during Ramadan.

It is about an exceptionally large number of Muslim tourists who travel with their families and seek unique experiences during Ramadan, which they believe await them precisely here," added Fazlagić.

He announced that the Tourist Board will continue to support this project in the future, as past experiences have justified his expectations.

"Every year, Ramadan falls at a different time, and that also has special charms for those who visit us. We invite all tourists to come and feel the specialness of Sarajevo during the Ramadan days," said Fazlagić.

Within the 'Visit Sarajevo-Feel the spirit of Ramadan' event, numerous activities will be held, among which 'Ramadan Evenings' stand out, a project by the Majlis of Sarajevo that has done the most to promote Ramadan in recent years, where interesting lecturers, guests, and performers provide a special atmosphere and experience for numerous visitors in the post-tarawih time.

During Ramadan, the Majlis will pay special attention to maintaining tradition and promoting socially useful work - through the volunteering of members of the Youth Network.
Likewise, this year the Majlis will organize iftars for young people at Tabija with direct observation of the Ramadan cannon, as well as special visits to neighborhoods for singles and the elderly and those with special needs, as well as to institutions that care for special categories of society.

500 volunteers will be involved in the realization of the activities, and 3000 such visits are planned.

The 'Visit Sarajevo-Feel the spirit of Ramadan' event will conclude with the traditional Eid concert 'Eid Comes, Courtyards Smell', on the first day of Eid al-Fitr.

The project partner is the Tourist Board of Sarajevo Canton, as well as the Media Center of the Islamic Community in BiH, BHRT, TV SA, Hayat TV, the local community, cultural and educational institutions.
