Protests in Sarajevo and Banja Luka Tonight

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The "Justice for Dženan" protest walk will be held again tonight from the BBI Center to the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Sarajevo.

Muriz Memić, the father of the murdered young man Dženan, has called on all citizens to join the peaceful protest walk in order to demand the swift apprehension of his son's killers.

On February 15th, it will be three years since the death of the young man who sustained fatal head injuries on February 8, 2016, in Velika aleja, while in the company of his girlfriend Alisa Mutap. The Memić family has claimed from the outset that Dženan did not die in a traffic accident, as claimed by the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office. In mid-July, the Sarajevo Cantonal Court issued an acquittal verdict to Ljubo and Bekrija Seferović, stating that there was no evidence of a traffic accident or injuries on the young man's body consistent with being hit by a vehicle.

"I have been waiting for truth and justice for three years," said Memić, reminding that his child was killed then, and David Dragičević was subsequently killed in Banja Luka.

"The judiciary has failed in both cases. The only thing left for us is to seek justice on the streets with the support of citizens. If these cases are not resolved soon, we have nothing to hope for. Instead of police and courts doing their jobs, parents of murdered children are being arrested, criminal charges are being filed against them, and their normal lives are being disrupted," Memić stated.

Memić had previously filed a criminal complaint with the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina against 40 individuals whom he suspects of organizing and participating in the cover-up of the truth about his son's death. The Memić family demands the immediate dismissal of the Chief Cantonal Prosecutor in Sarajevo, Dalida Burzić.

Today, a large rally "Justice for David" will also be held in Banja Luka, starting at 6 PM at Krajina Square. David's body was found at the beginning of the year in a river in Banja Luka with injuries, and since then, the family has been trying to uncover his killers, accusing the police and political elite of Republika Srpska of complicity.
