Opening of the 'Ramadan in Mostar' event tonight

(Patria) - The city on the Neretva River will host the opening of the "Ramadan in Mostar" event tonight at 6:00 PM at the Mostarska Tabija on Konak.

"Our wish is to solemnly mark the beginning of the month of Ramadan by raising the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina on Mostarska Tabija, with fireworks and a 3D projection on the Old Bridge," announced the organizers.

The "Ramadan in Mostar" event will be held for the fourth consecutive year, from February 28 to March 30, at various locations in the city. A Bayram concert by singer Elvira Rahić is planned for the last day of the event.

The event enriches the spiritual, cultural, and social life of Mostar during Ramadan, and is jointly organized by the Majlis of the Islamic Community Mostar, the Mostar Cultural Center, BZK "Preporod" Mostar, the Mostar Sjever Cultural Center, and the Mostar City Tourist Board, with the support of the City of Mostar, the City Council, the Government of HNK, and other sponsors.

Đani Rahimić, President of the City Council of Mostar, emphasized the importance of the City and City Council's support for such events.

"We are extremely pleased that we can continue with the realization of this event this year with the support of the City of Mostar and the City Council. The event has been well-received by citizens, and it not only provides an opportunity for our city to shine in its full glory but also to attract the attention of visitors through a rich and high-quality program, thus enriching Mostar's cultural offer.

Through the participation of prominent artists, exhibitors, and lecturers, this event contributes to the promotion of cultural heritage, art, and spirituality," said Rahimić.

Amira Trbonja, Head of the Department for Economy, Communal Affairs, and Inspection Affairs of the City of Mostar, emphasized that efforts have been made again this year to make the city of Mostar shine with a special light.

"The decoration of Fejićeva Street has already begun, so by the beginning of Ramadan, our city will have a new look. On Friday, February 28, starting at 6:00 PM, we will officially mark the beginning of the month of Ramadan, and since the start of fasting coincides with Bosnia and Herzegovina's Independence Day, the state flag will be raised at Tabija in Konak," said Trbonja.

Almina Bajramović, representative of the organizing committee, presented the event program.

"We are pleased to announce a rich program for the event again this year. For the next month, Mostar will be the center of various cultural, spiritual, and artistic events that will bring together citizens, guests, and all those who wish to experience the special atmosphere during Ramadan," stated Bajramović.

Azem Feriz, president of BZK "Preporod" GD Mostar, spoke about the exhibitions and lectures within the event, and emphasized that the organizing committee has prepared several significant exhibitions this year that will enrich Mostar's cultural life during the Ramadan days.

"We are extremely proud that in the first week, we will present an exhibition of Islamic calligraphy from the IRCICA institute in Istanbul. It is one of the most recognized institutes in the world, and this time they are presenting us with an exhibition of calligraphic works by the greatest calligraphers of today.

The second exhibition is titled 'Mostarski tarih,' and it features an exhibition of historical inscriptions written in Arabic script on various objects in Mostar and Blagaj. This year, the Karađoz-beg Library celebrates 20 years since its reactivation, and on this occasion, an exhibition of publications from the Mufti's Office of Mostar, the Majlis of IZ Mostar, and the Karađoz-beg Library will be organized.

The last exhibition is again an exhibition of calligraphic works, but this time by a local association, the association 'Kaligraf' from Mostar. This time, the Roznamedžijina madrasa in Bunur has been chosen as the meeting place after the tarawih prayer, where interesting lectures will be held," said the president of BZK "Preporod" GD Mostar.

Senad Suljić, director of the Mostar Cultural Center, announced a rich concert program.

"Through our activities, we want to bring the atmosphere of Ramadan warmth, togetherness, and spirituality to Mostar and its citizens. As part of the program, we have prepared a series of concerts that will contribute to the festivity of this month.

Already on March 7, we expect a concert by Zejd Šota and Mustafa Demircija at USRC Midhad Hujdur - Hujka. These are artists known for their interpretations of spiritual music.

The concert 'Orient from Bosnia,' by Sead and Idris Mrahorović, will offer us an evening filled with emotions and tradition. This will be followed by a concert by the Choir 'Rejjan,' known for performing ilahijas and kasidas.

Šaha Isaković-Jelačić is an interpreter who, with her voice and emotion, brings a deep connection to traditional and spiritual music, and she will delight the Mostar audience with a concert in the last third of Ramadan.

The Bayram concert, which will be held at USRC Midhad Hujdur - Hujka, and will feature our renowned BiH artist Elvira Rahić, has special significance," emphasized Suljić.

Elvira Ćemalović, director of the Mostar City Tourist Board, highlighted the tourist aspect of the event.

"This event has great tourism potential for our city and religious tourism. Mostar is recognized worldwide, and through such events, we will attract even more visitors, which will contribute to the further promotion of the city as an attractive destination for tourists," added Ćemalović.
