Already problems: What will the restraint of SDA and SBB during the appointment of Božović bring to the coalition

(Patria) - After the Commission at the session in Sarajevo did not give a recommendation for confirming the appointment of Mlađen Božović as Minister of Human Rights and Refugees, appointed to that position by the Chairman of the Council of Ministers Zoran Tegeltija, Halid Genjac, the first deputy chairman, explained his abstention by saying that, due to Božović's answers to questions from Commission members, additional consultations are needed.

"Additional consultations are needed on a number of issues related to this appointment. There are also some elements of party agreements on the principle of appointing the Minister of Human Rights and Refugees," Genjac specified, adding that the consultations will be completed by the next session of the House of Representatives.

However, what this behavior will bring to the coalition of SDA-SNSD and HDZ BiH with their partners SBB, DF and DNS at this moment is difficult to predict, because DNS does not give up on its candidate, while SDA seeks additional consultations.

Of the 10 present members of the Commission, four were against (SDP, NS, A-SDA and PDP), four were for (PDA, DNS, HDZ and SP) and two abstained (SDA and SBB). 

This decision is not binding for the House of Representatives, which will, regardless of the Commission's position, vote on the election of Božović. It is expected that the session of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be held on January 16. However, if SDA representatives in the House also abstain, the necessary majority for the appointment will not be achieved.

The other ministers were appointed by the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina on December 23.

Mlađen Božović, candidate for Minister of Human Rights and Refugees, said that in his case there was a "switching of theses" and that the "real question is whose rights are violated here."

"SIPA thoroughly examined everything during the checks, and I trust domestic institutions; all reports submitted by Irina Lovrić have been acquitting," said Božović. 

In addition to Božović, the appointment of the Deputy Minister of Security remains, so that the entire work related to the appointment of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina can be completed.
