Sarajevo Canton Fire Brigade Enriched with 70 New Firefighters, Direction - Firefighter at the Secondary School for Environment and Wood Design

(Patria) - The Professional Fire Brigade of Sarajevo Canton is richer by 70 new firefighters.

Director of KUCZ KS Dženan Brkanić pointed out that after almost 25 years, the Professional Fire Brigade has been significantly staffed for the first time with firefighters trained to perform all tasks and challenges.

In the lineup, shoulder to shoulder with professional firefighters, were 24 students of the Secondary School for Environment and Wood Design, direction firefighter. Namely, for the first time since the aggression on our homeland, a new educational direction for firefighters is being implemented, thus systematically addressing the problem of education and scientific training of future personnel.

The Professional Fire Brigade, added Brkanić, will provide support in conducting practical classes for our students.

"Only a well-equipped, trained, and staffed Professional Fire Brigade can protect the lives of our citizens and material assets. To carry out such an impressive review today, a whole series of steps had to be taken, starting from equipping and training to securing the financial resources necessary for its realization. Therefore, I extend special gratitude to the Government of the Sarajevo Canton for the support it provided in the systematic training of young people ready to do this extremely demanding and complex job. With this type of support, the age structure of our firefighters has been significantly improved, and the unit's ability, mobility, and functionality to efficiently perform assigned tasks have been enhanced," said Director Brkanić.

The Professional Fire Brigade of the Sarajevo Canton, i.e., the protection and rescue services at KUCZ KS, have participated in numerous rescue and assistance operations for people and material assets outside the Sarajevo Canton, as well as outside Bosnia and Herzegovina. They demonstrated their readiness in fires in the areas of Konjic, Jablanica, Blidinje National Park, as well as in rescue operations in the Republic of Turkey and the Republic of Slovenia.

"In terms of equipment and training, we were at the level of the most developed countries, showing that with synchronized activity, our country can present itself in the best light in this field as well," concluded Brkanić.
