Fire consumed everything they had in 50 minutes

In a fire at a construction site settlement on the Siberian Yamal Peninsula, in addition to six fatalities, three more workers from Serbia were injured on Saturday. A "Velesstroy" worker contacted by "Blic" yesterday said they lost everything in the fire, reports the Patria News Agency.

- Our money, belongings burned, most of us also lost our mobile phones. Everything went up in flames in 50 minutes, that's how long the fire raged - says the worker.

The Ambassador of Serbia to Russia, Slavenko Terzić, told "Blic" that the fire broke out in a mobile settlement located 3,000 kilometers from Moscow.

- That place is the beginning of gas exploitation, the temperature there drops to minus 50 degrees Celsius. Our workers were housed in barracks, and for now, we don't know what the working conditions are like there. We are waiting for a representative of the company "Velesstroy" to determine what happened there - said Terzić, adding that three workers were injured.

He stated that the Ministry of Emergency Situations claims that the workers have been hospitalized and their lives are not in danger.

Earlier yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, citing data received from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, announced that six workers of Serbian nationality died in a fire at a construction site on the Siberian Yamal Peninsula.

Part of the accommodation block within the construction site, which comprised about 80 rooms, burned down in the fire. These were prefabricated barracks where workers from Serbia, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and Belarus slept.
