State of Emergency in Bužim, Heavy Rains Flood Villages and Hamlets

(Patria) - A severe storm accompanied by a large amount of precipitation hit the wider area of Bužim Municipality last night, causing flooding in the town itself and in several local communities.

According to Senad Ćatić, head of Civil Protection in this town, due to heavy rainfall, rivers and streams in the area overflowed, causing flash floods.

Because the water drainage system is not adapted to such a large amount of precipitation, water is still present this morning in a large number of local villages and hamlets.

Ćatić says that more than 20 residential buildings have been reported to have been flooded, and numerous damages to cars have also been reported.

Similar problems are also present in several villages in neighboring Velika Kladuša.

Ćatić emphasized that personnel and machinery are on the ground, assisting citizens in repairing the incurred damages.
