Emergency meeting of Hurtić with representatives of the Safe Network in BiH

(Patria) - On Wednesday at 10:30 AM in hall 2/1 of the building of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, an emergency meeting will be held between the Minister of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sevlid Hurtić, and representatives of the Safe Network of BiH, a network of non-governmental organizations within which safe houses for victims of gender-based violence operate, consisting of: Gordana Vidović ("Budućnost" Modriča), Jasmina Mujezinović ("Fondacija lokalne demokratije" Sarajevo), Radmila Žigić ("Fondacija Lara" Bijeljina), Irma Šiljak ("Medica" Zenica), Amila Žikić ("Vive Žene" Tuzla), Aida Behram ("Žene sa Une" Bihać), Gorica Ivić ("Udružene žene" Banja Luka) and Azra Hasanbegović ("Žena BiH" Mostar).

The meeting will also be attended by the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr. Ingrid Macdonald, and Samra Filipović-Hadžiabdić in her capacity as Chairperson of the Committee for Monitoring Implementation and Reporting on the Istanbul Convention and Femicide in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the context of the necessity of an urgent response to occurrences of femicide, the meeting will, in addition to information exchange, discuss systematic measures.

The goal of the meeting is to highlight the necessity of coordination among all levels of government in implementing the Recommendations of the Council of Europe Committee for Monitoring the Implementation of the Istanbul Convention (GREVIO Committee), with the aim of more effective prevention and protection against gender-based violence and femicide in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It is expected that concrete conclusions will also be reached, which will be submitted for adoption to the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and after the meeting, at 12:00 PM in the building of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a press conference will be held.
