Vandalism in Zenica: Unknown persons broke into a mosque and took money

Unknown persons broke into a mosque in Zapoda, near the Gradišće settlement in Zenica, during the past night. The news of this shameful act was confirmed by the Zenica police, who conducted an investigation this morning. An unknown amount of money was taken from the donation box for worshippers, announced the Committee for Interreligious Cooperation in Zenica, as reported by the Patria news agency.

The Committee for Interreligious Cooperation in Zenica strongly condemns this act of vandalism and shameful event in our city. We demand from the competent authorities the swiftest possible investigation, as well as the finding and prosecution of the perpetrator.

The Interreligious Council in BiH and the OMS in Zenica, while monitoring attacks on religious buildings, religious officials, and places of significance for religious communities, appeal to the competent institutions and the public in Zenica to clearly and unequivocally condemn this misdeed committed against Islamic religious heritage.

Religious communities and churches gathered in the OMS wish, with a united voice, to warn and call upon all our believers to stand by their neighbors in this and all similar unfortunate events and to provide them with support in nurturing and preserving their holy places, the statement reads.
