Vandals in Sarajevo destroying trees in avenues

As it takes very little time for irresponsible individuals to destroy a tree, and thus an avenue, or the horticultural arrangement of a walking and recreational path, the picture that the employees of the "Park" company found this morning is proof, reports the Patria News Agency.

This time, a young linden tree in the avenue on the green area on the right bank of the Miljacka river, from Čengić Vila towards Otoka, was targeted. The linden tree, more than 10 years old, was completely destroyed by unknown perpetrators, who, likely during the night between Wednesday and Thursday, while staying on the promenade and nearby park benches, felled, i.e., broke and destroyed the young tree in the trunk area, leaving it on the green area.

- The market value of such a linden tree, more than 10 years old, its planting and care during the past period is significant, especially since the destruction of just one tree planted four years ago has disrupted the complete image of the young avenue. The broken linden tree will be removed by the "Park" employees, and the root system will be excavated. However, it is necessary to once again point out the irresponsible attitude of individuals towards public good, greenery, and trees - say representatives from Park.

On this occasion, Park again appealed to citizens to report such acts and individuals to the competent municipal services, Eco wardens at 033/467-562, the company "Park" at 033/ 560-560, or police administrations, because greenery and green areas are the public good of all of us, and their preservation and arrangement depend solely on our attitude.
- With such an attitude from individuals, the efforts of the company "Park" are being destroyed, which, despite difficult financial situations and a lack of workforce, makes daily efforts to preserve, arrange, and protect greenery and green areas in the Sarajevo Canton, and to plant as many young trees as possible - state representatives from Park.
