Waqf Directorate and IUS Sign Memorandum of Cooperation

(Patria) - With the aim of fostering academic skills and promoting cultural heritage, the Waqf Directorate of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the International University of Sarajevo (IUS), in cooperation with the Center for Balkan Studies (BSC) operating within this university, have established an academic partnership.

The Memorandum was signed on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, and serves as a comprehensive framework for the implementation of joint activities and programs aimed at promoting academic, educational, and professional cooperation between the Waqf Directorate and IUS through the BSC.

The Memorandum outlines a series of ambitious goals, emphasizing a shared commitment to advancing knowledge and preserving cultural heritage.

The primary goal is to encourage and elevate the fields of science and practice, and this initiative seeks to create an environment that fosters intellectual growth and innovation. An essential component of the partnership is raising awareness about the importance of waqfs in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This effort aims to shed light on the historical and cultural significance of these institutions, with the signed memorandum providing a platform for the realization of domestic and international projects. Joint efforts are expected to result in innovative projects that will contribute to the progress of the community and the state.

The foundation of the cooperation is the exchange of professional and scientific experiences and information, and the established partnership will enable the organization of various educational events, including conferences, symposia, congresses, seminars, courses, summer schools, and workshops.

These platforms will facilitate meaningful discussions and the exchange of knowledge among scholars, researchers, and students.

To achieve these goals, the signatories have committed to actively participating in the development of joint initiatives, joint research, the implementation of domestic and international projects, and the joint pursuit of funding opportunities.

Additionally, they will contribute to the realization of scientific and educational programs, encompassing undergraduate, postgraduate, and other continuing education projects.
